Spiritually Bold Sundays

Leave Your Comfort Zone

Happy Sunday MI Loves!

Today I want to reflect on how I am just in awe of how much I have really stepped outside my comfort zone the past two months. It all started when I went to a women’s empowerment conference called WerkPraySlay with one of my good friends. We were among so many beautiful, creative, and talented women who had successful businesses, blogs, products, services, and so much more. During the conference, I remained very low key because I had no business, blog, product, or service to talk about and networking at events (outside of school counseling) was completely out of my comfort zone. My friend, on the other hand, is the social butterfly, life of the party and will literally start a conversation with anyone. She was also in the process of launching her Speech Therapy business, so she definitely benefited from networking.

Nevertheless, I let her do the talking for the both of us.

The last event for the weekend was the Big Hat Brunch. I sat next to a woman and she asked me if it were my first time attending the conference and what I thought of it. I told her I thought it was an amazing experience and I felt so empowered and motivated to step into the entrepreneurial realm. She responded, “Well if you liked the conference, you will really enjoy being a part of the Inner Circle.” I did the typical smile and nod and thanked her for the information and we continued with the brunch.

After the conference, I felt God telling me that I needed to really step out on faith and step outside of the little bubble I had been living in. He told me that it was time to stop sitting on the talents He gifted me with and connect with people who could possibly help me get to the next level. Of course, I fought with the notion, but I ultimately decided to obey His command and I joined the Inner Circle.

Let me tell you—being a part of the Inner Circle is all that and a bag of chips and it is definitely out of my comfort zone. Sharing ideas, getting feedback, giving and receiving positive vibes daily definitely helps me on my journey of entrepreneurship and overall becoming a better woman. This past Friday, I shared that I had to give myself a pep talk by reminding myself not to compare my chapter one to someone else’s chapter 20. I, Mi’esha, decided to share that in our GROUPME and the encouragement I received in a matter of minutes surely lifted my spirits and quickly got me back on track to remember why I even decided to start my blog/brand.

Had it not been for me stepping out of my comfort zone to join the Inner Circle, I would not have connected with @iamPriiincesss to help me launch my blog—because God knows I did not know the first thing about blogging. I would not have gained an extra layer of support and encouragement outside of my family and friends and I would not have access to so much information to help me be a better woman, sister, wife, and entrepreneur among other things.

I share all of this to say, if there is something you are yearning for that requires you to step outside of your comfort zone, do it. What do you have to lose? There are billions of people in the world and we all have something to offer. Those goals you have for the year, that business you want to start, that job you want to apply for go for it. There is a plethora of information waiting for us but we don’t know what we don’t know and it’s not until we connect with people who may be outside of comfort zone that we will get exactly what we have been praying for.

To all of MI loves, thanks for checking in with me.

Since transitioning to a career in education, I spend most days trying to get my students out of their comfort zone. Lately I find myself in a bit of a rut, simply going through the motions in regards to many aspects of my life. I recently started stepping outside of my comfort zone – chasing a few goals that were put on the back burner in the past. What I am finding is that stepping out on faith is not as scary as one may think. Taking that first step is the most difficult part of the journey.
